Intercepted on the slopes
Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 by David Kennedy
Out at Winter Park last month, another analyst at our firm, Joe, and myself witnessed intercept surveys being conducted by the resort while standing in the lift line. What a great idea – intercepting people when they have nothing else to do (i.e. no distractions) and asking them questions (How many days do you ski a year? Where else do you ski? Etc.) about the activity they’re currently engulfed in (i.e. their mind is already engaged so recall is easier and more accurate). I’ve heard of surveys like this before at ski resorts (even on chairlifts), but this was the first time I got to witness it in person.
While we wish it would have been us performing this research, we were perfectly content to be skiing instead:).
